This World Cup will certainly be remembered for plucky performances from the lower ranked sides. We have seen Argentina struggle, Germany lose and teams needing last-minute winners to get the job done.
The same can be said about Brazil that needed two late goals to see off a dogged Costa Rica side. The goals came from Liverpool old boy Philippe Coutinho and then Neymar but it was a subdued performance from one of the favourites for the trophy.
Roberto Firmino was the catalyst for the first goal as his header in the box allowed Coutinho to race in and slot past Keylor Navas.
The Liverpool link seemed to work brilliantly, even if Coutinho is not a Red anymore. However, Twitter brought up the pair and their Liverpool connection as the Samba Boys look forward to qualifying for the next round.
Firmino and Coutinho combination doesn’t end offensively. Countless times for LFC they’ve combined their defensive capabilities to steal the ball back from the opposition. This side isn’t as unbalanced as you might think.

Firmino comes on and the game changes. Neymar and Coutinho start performing well and Brazil end up winning the match
But that braindead Tite would still won’t start him because he doesn’t suit the fucking system— RF9 (@system_merchant) June 22, 2018
Absolutely incredible by Firmino. Beat two defenders to set up Coutinho. What a player Firmino is. So much more than a finisher.
Bobby > Jesus

Once again, Tite just can’t get past that blind spot of his. Firmino works better with Neymar and Coutinho than Jesus does. He’s changed the game both times he’s come on.

The only change Tite needs to make is getting Firmino, Coutinho, Jesus and Coutinho in the same team imo

Firmino was directly involved on the first goal when he headed it down which allowed Coutinho to score

Lovely cushioned header by Bobby Firmino into Coutinho’s path. Did more in his brief cameo than Gabriel Jesus did in the rest of the match. Firmino should be starting for Brazil alongside Neymar#YNWA #LFC #BRACRC pic.twitter.com/C7lS8GBCmY
