Liverpool are ready to break the British transfer record with a £158m bid to sign attacking sensation

Liverpool are set to smash the British transfer record as they look to sign Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio for a crazy fee of £158million, according to The Mirror.

The report claims that the Reds have contacted the Champions League winners officially and have made a firm offer for the Spanish star.

Asensio is frustrated with the lack of starts at the Spanish capital, as most of his appearances last season came off the bench. However, there is one more component to this deal and that is Neymar of Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazilian, who scored in the 2-0 win over Costa Rica in the World Cup, is a target for Real as the club wants him as the heir apparent of Cristiano Ronaldo.

A big transfer fee for Asensio would make it easier for Real to go after the Paris Saint-Germain star but there are a few issues that the Reds have to overcome if they are to land Asensio.

New Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui might have other plans for Asensio as the former Spain manager is yet to work with the rest of the Madrid squad. Additionally, the player has a release clause of €700million, which is an even crazier amount than the one we are willing to pay.

Asensio is one of the most talented youngsters in world football and it would be great if we can somehow bring him to the club. Liverpool have an amazing manager and a young team that can go far should they stick together.

Bringing Asensio in would be incredible work by our team as long as we do not spend a crazy amount on the 22-year-old Spaniard.
