Liverpool transfer news: Top journalist makes huge transfer claim, deal to sign £53m target is not dead

Liverpool’s move for Nabil Fekir is not dead yet, according to David Maddock of The Mirror. The reporter shared a tweet claiming the French forward still wants to move to the Reds and Lyon president could still be open to negotiations.

Fekir was close to becoming our third signing of the summer but the £53m

deal fell through due to a knee problem of the 24-year-old’s. The Lyon attacker had a great season for the Ligue 1 side, guiding them to a Champions League spot.

Jean-Michel Aulas, the Lyon president is known to be a difficult negotiator and he might be looking to delay the sale of Fekir as he would want more money for the French attacker.

Aulas did sell Alexandre Lacazette to Arsenal last season and with us so close to landing the player, this could be another tactic taken by the president to drive his player’s price up.

Fekir would be a great option for us, there is no doubting that, but if we really are concerned about the knee, then we should not risk bringing in another player that might end up spending more time on the treatment table than on the field.

It seems like this saga could go on until the end of the transfer window but it would be great for us if we can close down the negotiations quickly and move on to sign other players.
