Rant of the day: Sign an attacker up quick and see the side blossom, Jurgen!

Liverpool have been linked with a slew of attackers ever since we lost the Champions League final. Nabil Fekir seemed to be on his way to the Reds but that deal fell through due to a medical issue.

Following the failure of that deal, we have been linked with a move for Xherdan Shaqiri, who would be an amazing option.

However, there still seems to be one problem with most of these transfers. We have to wait for the World Cup to end for any new signings, or at least that is what most of the papers are saying, and that is something we have to avoid at all costs.

Sign them quick and watch them perform

One thing that has been a fixture under Jurgen Klopp is our tendency to sign players early. Naby Keita’s deal was announced a year back while Fabinho was signed even before the transfer window opened.

Of course, there have been a few misses here and there like the Virgil van Dijk deal but in most cases, we bring players to Anfield early on so they can gel with the side and understand the Jurgen Klopp way.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, the two wide men, were also brought in early and in each of their debut seasons, they started off with a bang.

Mane scored that sensational goal against Arsenal at the Emirates while Salah was in the thick of the action against Watford last season.

The pair had a lot of time to understand how we play and that is why we must sign an attacker before the World Cup ends.

Apart from getting done with the long-drawn negotiation process, it would also provide Klopp with ample time to devise a plan to utilize the player effectively.

The German would know what he wants from his new signing but to have the player training with the side from the beginning is an entirely different proposition.

Be it Fekir or Shaqiri, or some random star who has made a name for himself in the World Cup, the deal has to be done quickly and announced too.

The worst feeling for fans is the endless wait for a quality signing to come in. Hence, Klopp and the rest of the management have to get going and save us from the drudgery of waiting around.

It is quite possible that we have been spoiled by Klopp, thanks to the extraordinary work done by the German. Our side is playing incredible football and we are certainly on the rise.

Most of our signings are doing well and with a manager that has a clear vision of what he wants, the only thing missing is a trophy or two to go along with it.

However, that could seriously change next term. Hopefully, we will have that one extra world-class attacker in the side by mid-July rather than a few hours before the transfer window ends.
