Liverpool starlet fails to agree terms with Premier League club regarding loan move

According to a report by Liverpool Echo, Marko Grujic’s Liverpool future is in severe doubt after a potential loan move to Cardiff City fell through. The report claims that Cardiff boss Neil Warnock has blamed contract issues as the reason behind the deal’s collapse.

The Premier League newcomers have a tough challenge ahead of them and signing Grujic would have surely boosted their forces. However, the Bluebirds must now look for options elsewhere with hardly a few days left before the deadline day.

As far as Liverpool and Grujic are concerned, Liverpool Echo claims that they are at loggerheads regarding a new contract. Grujic enjoyed a fruitful loan spell with Cardiff last season but now, the Reds are hesitant to sanction another loan deal unless the youngster pens a contract extension.

The 22-year-old, whose current contract runs until 2020, has refused to sign a deal, which has led to this situation. If Grujic remains adamant and does not sign a new extension, it looks like he will stay put at Anfield this season.

It goes without saying that the player will be faced with a severe shortage of game time by staying at Anfield. He has only made 14 appearances for us so far, since joining from Red Star Belgrade in 2016.

With players like Fabinho, Naby Keita, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson ahead of him in the pecking order, staying back at Liverpool could be detrimental to the youngster’s progress in the days to come.

The reason behind Grujic’s refusal to sign a new contract is unknown but it will be interesting to see how things turn out in this case.
