‘Still struggling’ – Jurgen Klopp gives his honest opinion on summer signing

Jurgen Klopp is happy with the pre-season performances of our new signings but he has claimed that Fabinho is “struggling” a bit and has had a difficult time so far.

The Brazilian joined Liverpool for a fee of £43m (h/t Metro) from Monaco and he played in the 5-0 win over Napoli.

However, Klopp was quoted by the Metro as saying that Fabinho still had some work to do.

“I am really happy with the new players.

“Fabinho, much better in offensive pressing, but still struggling a bit as not fresh enough. It’s been a hard pre-season for him.”

The manager was a tad more impressed with what another new boy, Xherdan Shaqiri, has done since joining us from Stoke City.

“Shaqiri comes on as a nine and looked really good. He can play as a 10 and on the wing. It was fantastic what he did.”

Klopp spoke about Naby Keita as well and claimed that the Guinea midfielder also had some work to do at the Reds.

“Naby played 50 minutes at the highest level and then left some gaps open, transition in defence could be better, so many things to work on.”

Liverpool do have one more pre-season friendly before they take on West Ham in their opening clash of the Premier League season.

The last friendly is against Torino and Klopp might be faced with a dilemma while deciding who starts in the more important clash against the Hammers on Sunday.

It would be a surprise if we see all our new signings start on the first day of the season but getting the three points should be our target against the Hammers.
