“Who knows?”: Club manager refuses to rule out the sale of key Liverpool target

Nabil Fekir

Lyon manager Bruno Genesio has not ruled out the sale of French attacker Nabil Fekir this summer. The Daily Mail reports that the World Cup winner was close to joining Liverpool earlier in the summer but the deal was called off. The report

also added that Chelsea too are interested in signing the 25-year-old.

Genesio was speaking to reporters after Lyon’s penalty defeat at the hands of Chelsea in the International Champions Cup and the Daily Mail quoted him as saying:

“He wanted to leave at the end of last season, but came back to training yesterday and was happy.

“Who knows? There may be opportunities that come up before the end of the window. For now, he is a Lyon player.”

Fekir was not a part of the Lyon side that took on Chelsea as he only returned to training on Monday (h/t Daily Mail) after his summer break.

Fekir himself added

that the transfer window was “long” but that he was happy at the Ligue 1 club. The Frenchman wants to play in the Champions League and that is something we can offer at Anfield, unlike Chelsea.

Further, Jurgen Klopp also added (h/t ESPN) that he was not sure about what might happen at the club in the remaining days of the transfer window.

Fekir would be an excellent addition to our attack given that he can play in almost any position in the final third. It will be interesting to see what happens to the Frenchman as we enter the transfer deadline day tomorrow.
