Liverpool star’s Anfield departure delayed due to one reason – deal agreed already

The Liverpool Echo reports that Loris Karius’ move to Besiktas has been on hold due to national holidays in Turkey. The deal for the 25-year-old keeper is worth £9.5million and was accepted on Monday, as per the report. Karius did not feature in our win over Crystal Palace, with Simon Mignolet

taking his spot on the bench.

The report adds that Karius is expected to be in Turkey for a medical on Friday but the country had a four-day public holiday due to the ‘Feast of Sacrifice’, the most important Islamic religious festival of the year.

Liverpool have agreed to a two-year loan deal with Besiktas and the Turkish giants will pay £2.25million as an initial loan fee, as per the report.

Should the deal with Besiktas go through, Karius will sign a one-year contract extension with the Reds. The report

adds the German will have the option to extend the new contract for a second year should he return to Anfield for the 2020/21 season.

Besiktas are obliged to buy Karius for an additional £7.25million in 2020 should certain criteria be met, such as qualifying for Europe, claims the Liverpool Echo. Liverpool have included a 20% sell-on clause should Karius end up signing permanently for the Turkish giants.

Barring some last minute hiccups, we should see Karius move to Besiktas and hopefully, he can put up his best performances for the Turkish giants.
