Jurgen Klopp expresses unexpected joy at Alisson’s error in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Leicester City

Jurgen Klopp claimed that he was “really happy” Alisson made an error in our 2-1 win over Leicester City.

The Brazilian keeper was tackled by Kelechi Iheanacho as he tried a Cruyff turn which led to a goal for Rachid Ghezzal.

Even with the error, Liverpool

maintained their 100% win record at King Power Stadium and Klopp was quoted by the Liverpool Echo, suggesting that we must move forward.

“To be 100% honest, I’m really happy that it happened because we don’t have to wait for it now.

“Last week everybody was talking about it, and people were saying some day it will be difficult. I was like ‘sure, yes’. Today you saw it – don’t do it that way! Now we can carry on.”

Klopp defended his keeper by claiming that he wasn’t arrogant and added that the team should have dealt with the situation better by clearing the ball, rather than passing it back to Alisson.

The German was pleased by the reaction from the keeper after the mistake and added that Alisson wasn’t the type to get affected by the crowd.

“That’s why I said I liked his reaction. It was a big mistake, everybody was kind of waiting for it after last week.

“Then he did it, and the crowd were on their toes but that’s normal. But he was still cool. And that’s the only thing I’m interested in.”

Alisson had kept three clean sheets prior to his mistake at the back and even though Leicester tried to find a second goal, we held firm.

The Brazilian should learn from his mistake and not take the opposition for granted. He did show extreme confidence in the remainder of the game and the last thing we need is another keeper to make unnecessary mistakes at the back.
