Stats prove this 32-year-old Red was the king of Wembley against Tottenham

James Milner

James Milner was at his best for Liverpool against Tottenham at Wembley. The Reds came out 2-1 victors over their rivals but we should have hammered Spurs by four or five goals.

Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino got the goals for the Reds but the Dutchman and Milner were the true champions in the team as their performances were incredible.

The 32-year-old Englishman has gone from strength-to-strength this season. The former Leeds United man was adjudged the Man of The Match, as per Sky Sports,

and a few interesting stats were highlighted about the midfielder.

Magnificent Milner does it again

It is a bit of a surprise seeing our oldest midfielder starting so many games but the Englishman has been excellent throughout the campaign.

The 32-year-old seems undroppable, alongside Wijnaldum, and Sky Sports reported that the former Magpie ran more than any other player in the side.

The midfielder ran 13km on Saturday and also registered the fastest average speed at 8km/hr. Milner also battled hard in the middle of the park as he recorded more tackles (five) than any other player on the pitch.

The Englishman also made more passes in the opposition’s half (32) and created three scoring opportunities, as per Opta.

Jurgen Klopp bought a couple of midfielders in the summer but the Englishman’s form has kept the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho out of the team.

The 32-year-old could continue playing like this for a number of years and it would not come as a surprise if he starts more games than the other midfielders this season.
