Nabil Fekir scored in a surprising win over Manchester City at the Etihad last night. The French attacker, who was linked with a move to Liverpool (h/t Express), was in fine form as Lyon made the Cityzens pay for an inept performance.
The Frenchman created the first goal and scored the second as he took on three defenders and rifled a shot from outside the box past Ederson.
The 25-year-old was excellent but Lyon had another hero in Anthony Lopes, who made a number of saves to ensure three points.
While Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta must aim to get the City train back on its tracks, some Liverpool fans were jubilant with the player’s performance and still dreamt of a transfer taking place.

Nabil Fekir’s goal tonight is exactly why I’d still love him at Liverpool. Wins the ball back aggressively from pressing and good reading of the game and then has the quality to find the bottom corner with multiple players around him putting pressure on him🙌🏻❤️ #LFC

Would be more bothered about Fekir if we weren’t boss. Who am I kidding, Fekir is a brilliant player.

I’m sure Klopp will know what happened and will monitor the Fekir situation a LOT more

Need to kick start the #Fekir campaign. Come on brother, @LFC still wants you. @NabilFekir

😁 Jurgen Klopp definitely sacked the Fekir deal off just so he could stay with Lyon and score the goal that would help Man City lose.
