Liverpool star opens up about new position after impressive start to the season

has looked great in his outings for Liverpool this season and that was backed up by his incredible goal against Chelsea in the Premier League.

The English striker has had a frustrating time with injuries over the years but believes a new role has helped him revive his career at Anfield.

The 29-year-old was quoted by the Mirror as saying:

“The position I’m playing now isn’t the old position I was playing. In the past, I’ve been a No.9 making runs behind, whereas now it’s more a No.10 than it was.

“You’re probably a little bit deeper and working hard. The runs you probably would have made in behind you are now doing in the midfield area, getting on the ball and things like that.”

The Englishman added that our wingers make runs in behind and act as strikers too. Sturridge claimed that he isn’t working harder than before and instead, this is just a different position which he is enjoying.

With four goals this season, prior to the clash against Napoli, the striker seems to have found his edge in front of the goal.

The attacker is one of the best finishers we have in the Premier League but injuries have been a major problem in his career.

We are seeing a better Sturridge this season, someone who can play in a Jurgen Klopp system and hopefully, the Englishman will finish the campaign with loads of goals.
