Former Liverpool player Kevin Keegan has warned Jurgen Klopp
about the difficulty of winning the Premier League. The Reds sit tied on 20 points with Manchester City and Chelsea after eight games and are unbeaten in the league.
Liverpool have never picked up the Premier League title and Klopp is yet to win a trophy at Anfield, despite reaching three finals with the Merseyside club.
Keegan managed Newcastle, Fulham and Manchester City without ever winning the Premier League.
The former Red was quoted by the Express as saying:
“The first one is the hardest.
“There is a difference between just getting over that line, having that attitude to get through those last few games.
“When you do it, that’s experience. When you haven’t, you’re thinking ‘do we do this, do we do that?’.
“You have no fear when you’ve done it, but when you’ve not done it you think ‘How do we do this?’.
“You question yourself more. That’s human nature.”
Liverpool had come agonizingly close to winning the Premier League under Brendan Rodgers and now, the onus is on the German to break our duck.
The Reds have played a number of tough sides this season and with a decent run of games coming up, Klopp and the team must make a real charge to stay at the top.
