Virgil van Dijk has urged Liverpool to win every game as the Reds face Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.
Mohamed Salah’s goal was enough to beat Huddersfield on Saturday, but Van Dijk highlighted that Red Star will be no pushovers at Anfield.
Liverpool lost against Napoli in the previous Champions League encounter, and the Dutch defender wanted the Reds to be wary of the Serbians.
Van Dijk was quoted by the Mirror as saying:
“We need to respect the opponent.
“They are in the Champions League – the best competition in Europe apart from the Premier League – and it will be a hard game. We will need to be 100 per cent and I think we will be.”
The defender further spoke about the Huddersfield game and how we needed to do better. The Reds scored just the one goal against the Terriers, but the centre-back was certain we would be better against Red Star.
“Against Huddersfield, we should have done even better. Obviously we kept a clean sheet, which is all good, but we could have made it easier for ourselves.
“We need to win every game. There is basically no other mindset.
“It’s another Champions League night at Anfield and I’m sure we will recover from Huddersfield and make sure we are ready.”

The Reds have two games against the Serbians and six points should be the minimum target for us. Our final games in the Champions League group are against PSG and Napoli, and hopefully, we will make it out of the group into the knockout round.
