Liverpool rubbish rumours of club being up for sale

John Henry

Fenway Sports Group have rubbished rumours of the sale of Liverpool. The New York Post (h/t Sky Sports) reported that John Henry was “privately” looking at offers to sell the Premier League giants for more than £1.53billion.

Sky carried a statement released by a Liverpool spokesman which said:

“Loath as we are to give a story of this nature a meaningful response, on behalf of the club’s ownership I can completely dismiss this unfounded speculation.

“To repeat once again, the club is not for sale, including any ‘quiet process’ or anything of that nature.”

This is not the first time we have been linked with a sale as the Daily Mail (h/t Sky Sports

) claimed that Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nehayan did not succeed in buying the club with his bid of £2bn at the end of 2017.

FSG bought Liverpool from their previous American owners George Gillette and Tom Hicks, and have turned the club around.

We have grown under their leadership and seem to be getting better under Jurgen Klopp. Of course, we haven’t seen a ton of trophies come into the club, but we are in a sound financial condition at the moment.

Selling the club to another owner could be risky for the club, as we have seen what happened with our previous owners. For now, we are doing great on all accounts, and hopefully, there is no more talk about the club being sold.
