Virgil van Dijk has easily been one of Jurgen Klopp’s best buys at Liverpool. The Dutch defender took time to arrive at Anfield with the Reds apologising to Southampton for a move for the defender, however, we got our man in January.
The Reds paid a mammoth amount to bring the Dutch stalwart but Van Dijk has made Liverpool a tighter unit at the back.
The Reds have conceded just five goals from 12 Premier League games this season, and are second in the table.
We are yet to taste defeat in the competition too, and Van Dijk’s partnership with Joe Gomez is one of the best in the league.
It did come as a surprise when ESPN UK decided to compare our defender with Sol Bamba of Cardiff.
Still worth the £75m price tag, Liverpool fans? pic.twitter.com/ibWlc5Zg7q

The Bluebirds aren’t doing all that great and lie 18th in the Premier League. They have conceded 25 goals this season and have just a couple of wins to their name.
Bamba might have scored a couple of goals but the stats used for the comparison seem skewed to favour the Cardiff star.
Cardiff have to defend a lot more than Liverpool, and they don’t have as much of the ball as the Reds. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that our defence doesn’t have to work as hard as some of the others given how we try to control most of the games.
The Liverpool fans weren’t taking this tweet lightly and went on to prove how Van Dijk certainly is one of the best in the competition.

Nah I wish we had signed Bamba now. He’s clearly the better player. Cheers ESPN

Team: goals conceded/clean sheet
Arsenal: 15/3
Cardiff: 25/2
Liverpool: 5/7.
But bamba, holding and mustafi are better defenders than VVD.

Delete this. You are embarrassing yourselves

Embarrassing that you can compare a player from a team probably faces 5 attacks in a game to a team is attacked every 5 seconds. Gutter journalism

ESPN showing they know absolutely nothing about football.
There isn’t a top team midfielder in the top tacklers league.
Why do you think that is? then apply same logic to this piece of shit tweet, then give yourself a slap
