Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk is willing to give the club his opinion on Matthijs de Ligt. The pair represent the Netherlands in international football and the Metro reports that many top clubs are keeping tabs on the Ajax defender.
Barcelona and Manchester City (h/t Metro) have been linked with De Ligt, and Van Dijk believes the 19-year-old is on the radar of the Merseyside giants.
The Dutch captain told De Telegraaf (h/t Metro):
“He is already very far, especially at that age.
“A good defender, good boy, calm, knows what he wants and hopefully he makes the right choice in his next step.”
The 19-year-old has been excellent for Ajax since last season, and Van Dijk was asked if the next step for the youngster would be at Liverpool.
“He will be on the list, because they have enough scouts at the club.”
The Liverpool star was also asked if he could give a better judgement of the player over a scout and said:
“No, but if they need my opinion at Liverpool, I will give it.”
Liverpool have several options for their centre-back positions with Joe Gomez partnering Van Dijk and doing extremely well this season.

The Reds have Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip as back-ups to the pair, but having someone like De Ligt in the side would certainly make us stronger at the back.
