Liverpool will be stretched to the bare-bones in the centre-back slot as Joel Matip is set to be out for a while.
The Cameroon star needs surgery to fix a fractured collarbone which he sustained in our 1-0 win over Napoli in the Champions League.
Matip had recently returned to the starting XI due to Joe Gomez’s injury but could now miss six weeks, according to a release from the club.
The 27-year-old was excellent in our win over Napoli, and will be a big miss during the festive period when we have several games.
The Cameroonian was possibly playing his best football for us prior to this injury, and several Liverpool fans wished him the best while some believed we could play someone else alongside Virgil van Dijk.
NO 😭 as soon as he picks up form 😭

Do people forget Fabinho can also play CB? He’s quite versatile.

Why is it that once one player gets injured in one position we end up with like 5 others injured in that same /similar position as well 😭
