Liverpool sit pretty at the top of the league with a four-point cushion over Manchester City. The Sky Blues were surprisingly defeated by Crystal Palace at home but the games come thick and fast during the festive period.

Our next clash is a home tie against Newcastle United and it won’t be easy against former the Liverpool boss. The Reds should come into the game with a lot of confidence and we need to keep the team fresh for the upcoming clashes against Arsenal and Manchester City too.

Jurgen Klopp should make a few changes to the side that played on Friday and here is our predicted line-up for the Reds.

Predicted Liverpool XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Alisson (GK)

The Brazilian kept another clean sheet in the win over Wolverhampton Wanderers and there is no doubt that he will start on Wednesday.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

Trent was amongst the fans in our win over Wolves and he could be back in the team on Wednesday.

Dejan Lovren Mohamed Salah

Dejan Lovren (CB)

Lovren had one or two nervy moments against Wolves but has to continue in the side as we are short of fit centre-backs.

Virgil van Dijk (CB)

The Dutch defender was excellent in the win over the Wolves. Van Dijk scored his first league goal for us and would want to do the same against Newcastle.

Alberto Moreno (LB)

Andy Robertson is a machine but even he needs rest and we could give Moreno a go in the side.

Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum Liverpool

Georginio Wijnaldum (CM)

The Dutch midfielder didn’t start for us on Wednesday, but he should return to the team for the Boxing Day clash.

Jordan Henderson (CM)

It was a great performance from Henderson in our win over Wolves and the Liverpool captain should remain in the team.

Adam Lallana (LAM)

Lallana has had an injury-plagued season but got a few minutes against Wolves. The Englishman could help us rest some players by starting the game on Wednesday.

Xherdan Shaqiri (RAM)

Shaqiri was excellent for us in the win over Manchester United and Klopp could give him a chance on Wednesday to start.

Roberto Firmino of Liverpool

Roberto Firmino (CAM)

The Brazilian didn’t have a great game against the Wolves but he should keep his place in our starting XI.

Mohamed Salah (ST)

Salah should start for us against Newcastle and then be taken off once the points are safe.
