Liverpool were brilliant against Newcastle United and started the scoring with a thunderbolt from Dejan Lovren. The Croatian started alongside Virgil van Dijk but hammered in the opener from a corner. Lovren has had his injury problems this season but is coming into form at the right time of the campaign.
Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are out with injuries and it is imperative for the Croatian to keep this form for as long as possible.
The win for the Reds, coupled with a loss for Manchester City against Leicester City opened up a six-point lead over second-placed Tottenham at the top of the Premier League table.
There is a long way to go in the Premier League but many Liverpool fans were pleased not only about Lovren’s goal but also with City’s loss.
