Liverpool are willing to sell Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge in the January window to sign RB Leipzig star Timo Werner, according to Sports Illustrated.

Origi played a huge role in our 1-0 win over Everton by scoring the winner while Sturridge has come good in some games this season.

The report claims that the Reds lack an out-and-out No.9, something that Werner is, and the German striker has found his shooting boots this season with 13 goals in all competitions. The 22-year-old is one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga and participated in the World Cup too.

The report adds that Manchester United and Bayern Munich are interested in the German, but Jurgen Klopp’s Bundesliga connections and our fantastic start to the season has put us in a good position to sign the player.

It will be interesting to see our transfer activity in the winter window as Klopp recently claimed the door would be open in case there is a need.

Roberto Firmino currently plays in a withdrawn role behind Mohamed Salah as the manager has used a 4-2-3-1 formation at times, with Salah leading the line, and if Werner was to join, things would have to change.

There is no doubting Werner’s ability and he would be a brilliant signing for the Reds. However, it would make sense for us to wait until the summer before splashing big on the rising talent.
