“They have a swagger” – Former Red claims Liverpool give more compared to major title rival

Liverpool players celebrate against Arsenal

Former Liverpool midfielder Stan Collymore has claimed that Liverpool are providing a little more when compared to Manchester City.

The Reds are seven points clear of their rivals as they face each other on Thursday. Collymore claimed that City are a great side to watch but his former side are doing.

Collymore wrote for the Mirror (h/t Express) claiming he preferred watching Liverpool to City, and compared the Cityzens’ playing style to that of a hockey side:

“The champions in full flow are metronomic — it’s pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, goal.

“It’s economical brilliance, like a hockey team, when it’s all on the deck and it’s stick, stick, stick, stick, stick, finish.”

The former Red highlighted similarities with a great national side of recent years and how people wanted more from them

“But they remind me of the great Spain teams from 2008-2016, in that after a while, if you’re a football purist, you go, ‘Yes, this is great, but give me something more, something extra’.

“Liverpool are doing that. They have a swagger, a joy, a happiness.”

Collymore, however, claimed Liverpool aren’t guaranteed of the title even if City lose on Thursday.

The Reds have picked up points even when we have not played well. The earlier meeting between the two sides this season ended in a 0-0 draw, and it would be a major surprise if the scoreline was the same on Thursday.

City know they have to get all three points to have a chance of putting pressure on us while the Reds could just sit back and hit their opponents on the counter.

The game will be fascinating for all spectators, and it would be fantastic if we could come out with the win and extend our lead over the reigning champions.
