Out-of-favour Liverpool striker emerges as target for West Ham United

West Ham are interested in a January move for Liverpool striker Divock Origi, according to the Daily Star (h/t Liverpool Echo).

The 23-year-old has played a few games for us this season and scored the winner in the Merseyside derby too.

The Belgian also started in the 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers and scored for the Reds. West Ham could do with some fresh attacking options given the injury history of Andy Carroll and Marko Arnautovic also returning from injury recently.

The Reds were busy in the transfer market as they sold Dominic Solanke to Bournemouth. Nathaniel Clyne also joined the Cherries on loan until the end of the season.

That leaves us with little cover for Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. The pair have swapped the lead striker’s position this season with Jurgen Klopp using a 4-2-3-1 formation in several games.

Daniel Sturridge is the only other senior striker in the side, and it will be interesting to see if sell any other players in the winter window.

We could get a decent amount for the Belgian striker given his recent form, and Origi is still a young striker that needs regular playing time.

It will be tough for either Sturridge or Origi to regularly start in our current side, and hopefully, we don’t suffer later on in the season with the sale of some players.
