Liverpool handed Champions League boost as Bayern Munich forward suspended for clashes

Thomas Muller

Liverpool have been handed a major boost ahead of their Champions League round of 16 clash against Bayern Munich.

Thomas Muller will be suspended for both the legs of the clash after UEFA banned him for two games following his red card against Ajax (h/t Sky Sports

).

The German’s high boot in the last group game against the Dutch side earned him a straight red, but UEFA added another game ban for the tackle.

The Reds host Bayern on 19 February and we travel to Munich for the second leg on 13 March. There is one problem for us as Virgil van Dijk is suspended for the first leg after his yellow card against Napoli.

Liverpool have more than a chance of getting a quality result at home, and we have to be at our best against the Bavarian giants.

The Bundesliga champions haven’t been great under Niko Kovac and trail Borussia Dortmund currently.

Liverpool have done well in the home ties in the Champions League this season with three wins from three, but our away form has been a worry.

This will certainly be one of the most watched ties amongst all the round of 16 games this season, and hopefully, we get one over our German rivals and progress into the quarter-finals.
