“Better than Torreira and Jorginho”, “Can play so many different positions” – Some Liverpool fans impressed with star’s versatility in 1-0 win over Brighton

Liverpool dominated possession in their 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion as they opened up a seven-point gap at the top of the Premier League.

The Reds were coming from two consecutive defeats and it was important to get the three points and halt our mini blip.

Mohamed Salah won the second half penalty which he converted with ease, and Liverpool weren’t really troubled all that much at the Amex.

There was some concern for us at the back with Virgil van Dijk being the only fit centre-back and Fabinho was brought into the team to partner him.

The Brazilian played the centre-back’s role in our FA Cup defeat against Wolves a few days ago, but he looked comfortable against the Dutch defender despite going up against Glenn Murray.

Fabinho has spent time in the defence but this was a difficult task for the former Monaco man, and he did a great job at the back.

There were one or two scary moments but the 25-year-old produced a quality block, and even tried to start a few attacks with a few long-balls.

It will be a major surprise if the Brazilian stays in the heart of the defence for next week’s clash against Crystal Palace, but many fans were pleased by the performance of Fabinho.
