Former Man United star advises Liverpool boss Klopp to use this one trick of Sir Alex Ferguson

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged Jurgen Klopp to take up a trick employed by Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford. Ferdinand played under the Scot as they won several Premier League crowns, and Liverpool

The Reds hold a seven-point lead over Manchester City, but that gap would come down if City avoid losing to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.

Liverpool have never won the Premier League title, and Ferdinand was speaking on BT Sport and wanted the manager to not bring up history this season (h/t Express):

“I think Jurgen Klopp, it’s important he actually tries to take the focus off of the history. That will be a big burden on their shoulders – if it’s allowed to be.

“When I was fortunate enough to be in a changing room with Sir Alex Ferguson, in times of need when the pressure is on, someone was chasing or when Liverpool or Chelsea were just ahead of us, he would find something we could hook into.”

The former England defender claimed that Ferguson would keep chipping in with praises for the players and it wasn’t too obvious. This tactic worked well as it increased the belief in the side, and United were one of the best sides in the world when the Scot was in charge.

The Reds haven’t been in fluent form this season and Ferdinand believed one huge win against a top side could do the trick for us. Liverpool have some easy fixtures in the coming weeks and Klopp has a huge job in keeping the team grounded.

The German has seen the Reds miss out on three trophies in his time at the club, but this is possibly the best chance we have of winning the Premier League title.
