Liverpool dealt major injury blow as star full-back ruled out for a month

Joe Gomez (L) and Trent Alexander-Arnold celebrate

Liverpool have been dealt another injury blow with Trent Alexander-Arnold facing a month out with a knee problem, according to the Guardian.

The English youngster picked up a slight knock in the warm-up against Brighton but played the entire game. However, the report adds that the right-back has some ligament damage and is set to be out for four weeks.

This is the latest injury we have had in our defence with Joe Gomez recovering from an injury and Joel Matip only making it to the bench against Brighton.

Dejan Lovren also picked up a hamstring injury in our FA Cup loss to Wolves, and we had to slot Fabinho as a central defender for the win against Brighton.

Dejan Lovren celebrates for Liverpool

The Reds have some options that can be played as the right-back with James Milner a possibility to face Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Fabinho can also do a job as the right-back while we have youngsters such as Rafa Camacho and Ki-Jana Hoever have played in the defence against Wolves recently.

Nathaniel Clyne would have been the right choice to take over from Alexander-Arnold, but the former Saint has been loaned out to Bournemouth.

The one silver lining is that Liverpool face some relatively easy games in the coming months, and it will be interesting to see if the youngster will be fit for the Champions League tie against Bayern Munich on 19 Feb.
