Liverpool and Tottenham embroiled in two-way tussle to sign 25-year-old World Cup winner

Calciomercato (h/t Express) claim Tottenham have joined the race to sign Lyon star Nabil Fekir.

The report claims that the Frenchman was a target for Liverpool in the summer, but a £44million deal fell due to some concerns during the player’s medical.

The Englishman is expected to be out for two months, and with Son Heung-min leaving for the Asian Cup, the London side is short on quality attackers.

Fekir has been doing the business at Lyon this season keeping them fourth in Ligue 1 and handing them a round of 16 clash against Barcelona in the Champions League.

The French attacker has 10 goals and five assists from all competitions this season, and the report claims Liverpool have not given up on a potential deal for the 25-year-old.

The Reds could do with more attacking players for the remainder of the season as we cannot just rely on Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Xherdan Shaqiri has done a great job since his move from Stoke City, but someone like Fekir would provide extra creativity in our midfield.

The Reds have their own injury concerns but those are in defence. Trent Alexander-Arnold was the latest to pick up an injury, and the Englishman is expected to be out for a month.
