Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided an update on three players that are currently injured. The Reds face a mini-crisis in defence with Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dejan Lovren all picking up injuries recently.

Matip returned to the bench in our win over Brighton, and Adam Lallana is another player that is not 100% at the moment.

Klopp spoke about Lovren first and claimed the Croatian defender needs some time since he was recovering from a muscle injury (Liverpoolfc.com):

“It’s slightly different for Dejan; he is much better than he was but that’s a muscle thing and needs time.

“I’m pretty sure he can be involved again against Leicester.”

The German added that Lallana is more or less ready to play games for the Reds, but wanted to see how the Englishman reacts recent training sessions before taking a decision on the former Southampton man.

However, Klopp claimed that Gomez still needs time to return to fitness while Matip seems set to return to the starting XI soon.

“Joe, no – improving, improving, improving. We all hope it will be quick from now on but don’t know exactly.

“Joel trained completely normally for around about 10 days, which is good. The others are long-term.”

Although the Reds have been handed a blow with regards to these injuries, we have a lot of time between games for our players to recover.

The lack of FA Cup and Carabao Cup action is great for Liverpool, and we need to take advantage of this and keep pushing to remain at the top of the Premier League.
