Liverpool star urges his teammates to remain focused as the Reds chase the Premier League title

Liverpool star Xherdan Shaqiri highlighted what the Reds need to have as they look to win the Premier League crown.

The Reds hold a five-point lead over Manchester City going into this round of fixtures and have lost just one Premier League game this season.

Shaqiri won multiple league titles with Bayern Munich and Basel, and claimed that the Reds also have a strong mentality to stay focused on the job ahead.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com (h/t Express), Shaqiri highlighted his time in Germany and wanted the Reds to do everything to win games:

“It has to be a winning mentality and the players need to be focused.

“The mentality is similar [here]. You need to go into games trying to win them and to give everything to do that.”

The Alpine Messi added that he believed in this talented side and wanted the team to work hard for the rest of the season.

Shaqiri wasn’t getting ahead of himself by claiming that there is a long way to go, but claimed that the Reds were in a “good way to be successful”.

Liverpool have been fantastic this season but they didn’t look great in their 1-1 draw with Leicester City in the previous game.

The Foxes did a great job at shackling our attack, and we have to be wary of West Ham in our next game. The Hammers have several players out injured but the fixture cannot be taken lightly.

Shaqiri could play a part in that game, and it will be interesting to see if we can blow the Hammers away on Monday.
