Massive boost for Liverpool as Klopp claims Reds star could return for UCL quarter-finals

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been a huge miss for Liverpool this season, but Jurgen Klopp has kept the door open for a return to the side before the end of the campaign. The English midfielder hasn’t played for us since the Champions League semi-final against AS Roma where he injured his knee.

The former Arsenal star has been in rehabilitation since but has posted several updates showcasing his work on the training ground. The German believes the Ox could be fit for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and the semi-finals is a major possibility (h/t Mirror):

“If we got to the semis of the Champions League again he should be available, quarter-finals maybe. We put him in the Champions League squad as we think there’s the chance for him to play.”

The first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals takes place on 9th and 10th April, with the second leg taking place a week later.

Liverpool could do with the ability of Oxlade-Chamberlain in their midfield, and he could be the missing link in our title challenge this season.

Even if the Reds don’t make it to the semis of the Champions League, the Ox could feature in some Premier League games before the end of the season.

That would be a major bonus given the severity of his injury against Roma. However, the Reds should take precautions and not rush the midfielder into action.
