“He gets the best out of everyone” – Former Tottenham star believes Reds star is most dangerous when on the wing

Mohamed Salah

Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas believes playing Mohamed Salah on the right brings the best out of the Liverpool players.

The Egyptian scored in the 3-0 win over Bournemouth and the attack looked fluid too. Sadio Mane opened the scoring before Georginio Wijnaldum made it 2-0 but Salah scored the goal of the game after a backheel from Roberto Firmino.

Jenas wrote in the Daily Mail that he enjoyed seeing Salah play on the right and Firmino down the middle, but claimed that sending him to the right brings out the best in the team (Daily Star):

“Salah has played down the middle a lot recently but having him out wide gets the best out of everyone. You get a better Salah, you get a better Firmino. You get a better overall performance.”

The pundit added that the Egyptian was brilliant and had a great influence on the game. Jenas added that playing the winger down the middle will still lead to goals but it reduces the impact that players such as Firmino have on the pitch.

Liverpool against Bournemouth

Jenas claimed that the Egyptian puts “fear” into opponents when playing on the wing, and the wide men are important in getting behind defences:

“A lot of that is down to Liverpool playing on the front foot with the incredible speed of those three — Sadio Mane on one side and Salah on the other — getting in behind defences.”

The Reds looked great in the attack and the defence as we made light work of Bournemouth. In all honesty, we could and should have scored more than the three goals, but this performance is something to build on for the coming weeks.
