Liverpool huffed and puffed but could not blow the Bayern Munich house down in the first leg of the round of 16 tie against the Germans.
Bayern, who haven’t looked great this season, were under enormous pressure in the first half but some resolute defending and poor finishing on our part ensured the teams went into the break level.
Sadio Mane had a couple of quality chances that he could not take while Alisson wasn’t threatened a lot by the Bavarians.
Liverpool let Bayern have the ball for portions of the game, but our final pass often wasn’t good enough to make the Germans pay.
The second half started like the first with the Reds trying to break down the Bayern defence. However, there was a lot of quality on show in the Bayern back-line with Joshua Kimmich impressing.
The right-back will be suspended for the second leg after picking up a booking in this game, and that could be a huge boost for us as an away goal could mean all the difference in this tie.
Mane was the closest to breaking the deadlock late on when he headed low, however, Manuel Neuer reacted quickly to stop the ball going into the net.
A 0-0 isn’t the worst result in the world and given our performance, we should have chances to score in the reverse tie.
The only aspect of our game that needs working on is the finishing. Despite the draw, several Liverpool fans saw the positive side from the game and shared their opinions.
