Liverpool FC transfer news: Liverpool target’s boss drops hint about player’s future destination
Calciomercato claims Liverpool are one of several clubs interested in Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.
The 23-year-old Ivorian has been in excellent form for Les Dogues with 16 goals and eights assists from 25 Ligue 1 games.
Pepe’s exploits have helped Lille climb up to second in the league standings, and they seem set to participate in the Champions League next season.
The report adds that Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs on the rising star.
Speaking on the player’s future, Lille head coach Christophe Galtier provided an interesting response (h/t Calciomercato):
“He’s had a great season and he keeps improving, so it’s right that he aspires to play in a team that plays in the Champions League. He would look good in a team that plays in a red jersey.”
Liverpool play in Red, but so do Arsenal and Lille also have a red jersey.
Liverpool could do with more quality attackers
Pepe could be a fantastic player in the future and seems set for a big move in the future. Liverpool have one of the best attacks in the world, however, we could do with more quality cover for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
The Ivorian would find it hard to start regularly but could be a smart signing from the Reds. Jurgen Klopp has a knack of developing talent, and it will be interesting to see what our plans are for the winter window.
