Latest Liverpool news: Billy Hogan claims management will back Jurgen Klopp in the coming years
Liverpool managing director Billy Hogan has claimed that the Reds will back Jurgen Klopp in the transfer market to keep the side competitive.
The Reds signed four world-class players in the summer and also bought Virgil van Dijk a year ago for a world-record fee for a defender.
They did sell Philippe Coutinho for £142m (h/t Liverpool Echo) last season, but posted a profit before tax of £125m from the latest set of accounts, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Speaking to fcbusiness (h/t Liverpool Echo), Hogan claimed that Klopp would be allowed to spend again in the summer despite £200m (h/t Liverpool Echo) being invested in the Main stand and the new training base in Kirkby:
“That represents a significant investment into the non-playing side and that is a great indication of where we are as a club, both on and off the pitch.
“From our perspective, what you are seeing is a continuation of that performance on the pitch and the reinvestment in the squad, which is the most important thing from our point of view; nothing is a distraction from putting a successful team on the pitch.”
The managing director further spoke about ensuring that Klopp kept the team competitive and how it was important for the management to reinvest in the side:
“Putting Jurgen and the guys on the football side in a position to compete at the highest levels, that is always our focus and we see our contribution to that in the form of being able to run the business in a better way and being able to drive revenues to invest back into the team.”
Liverpool are slowly getting back to the top
It has been a long wait for Liverpool to be in as strong a position as they are now. Although the Reds have not won a trophy under the manager, we have reached two European cup finals in recent years.
The Reds look to be in a great position in the Premier League too, and it will be interesting to see how things pan out till the end of the campaign.

Hogan ended by suggesting that Liverpool want to return to winning trophies and he claimed that his team had to drive the team forward in terms of commercial success.
