Latest Liverpool transfer news: Danny Murphy claims Liverpool will never sign this former player because of the fans

Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy believes the Reds supporters would not accept Philippe Coutinho back at the club.

The Brazilian left the Reds to join Barcelona last year, however, things haven’t gone well for the creative midfielder.

Coutinho was again poor in Barcelona’s latest 3-2 win over Sevilla and the Mirror claims that Liverpool could be tempted to move for him if the price is right.

However, Murphy doesn’t believe a deal can take place while speaking to Sporting Bet (h/t Mirror):

“Coutinho would never be welcomed back at Liverpool.

“It hasn’t worked out for him at Barcelona, but he made his bed by declaring how much he wanted to leave and now he has to sleep in it.

“I think even if Liverpool thought it was something they wanted, the fans would make it perfectly clear it wasn’t acceptable and would force them to pull the plug.”

The former midfielder further claimed that many fans didn’t actually get upset at him joining the Catalans, however, there was no way back for him.

Liverpool are missing a creative midfielder

Although Murphy is right in claiming that Coutinho returning to the Reds is far from becoming a reality, Jurgen Klopp’s team have missed an attacking midfielder this season.

The Reds looked devoid of ideas in the final third against Manchester United on Sunday, and we need to find our attacking verve back soon.

The draw helped us to leapfrog Manchester City to the top of the Premier League, and it will be interesting to see when we see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returning to the side from his injury.
