Latest Liverpool news: Some fans celebrate as Mauricio Pochettino is banned from touchline for Anfield clash
Mauricio Pochettino has been handed a two-match touchline ban for his altercation with referee Mike Dean after the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Burnley (h/t Guardian).
The Argentine squared up to the ref and was visibly upset after the game. The manager later apologised to the referee of his behaviour and the report adds that the two games Pochettino will miss are the trips to Southampton and Liverpool.
Big battle on the cards at Anfield
This would come as a major boost for Liverpool, although Pochettino is allowed to provide team-talks at half-time.
Spurs coming to Anfield will be one of the biggest clashes we have remaining in our Premier League run-in, and we have to win every game to overtake Manchester City.
The Cityzens hold a one point lead over us in the Premier League with nine games to go. The other tough clash we have at home is against Chelsea, but we need to take it one game at a time.
The last time Spurs played us at Anfield it ended in a 2-2 result with lots of controversy. Hopefully, we get the better of them after our win at Wembley earlier in the season.
Many Liverpool fans were happy that Pochettino got the ban, and here are some of their reactions from Twitter.
Pochettino in the stands for the game against LFC, that’s another game a red doesn’t get a seat. 😱😂😂

How did he get his ticket for the main stand…daytripper.

The irony is that Spurs fans are the first to say LFC fans are always the victim but they are claiming to be victims despite pretty compelling video evidence to support the ban. Poch’s claims about Dortmunds unfair advantage was cringe worthy as well.

Pochettino will serve a touchline ban for confronting Mike Dean, cue Spurs fans talking about how it’s harsh and then talking about Klopp…

If you lose your temper, you must pay the price. That’s it, should be the same whoever does it.
