Liverpool FC transfer news: Schalke interested in hotshot Taiwo Awoniyi

Liverpool youngster Taiwo Awoniyi has been on fire since joining Royal Excel Mouscron on loan.

The 21-year-old Nigerian striker has scored four goals in his last four games, and the Liverpool Echo (h/t Express) claims we could send him to Schalke on loan next season.

The report adds that the striker would be on loan at the Bundesliga club should they not meet our valuation of £13million.

The 21-year-old had spent another season on loan at the Belgian club earlier and re-joined them in the January window.

The report adds that Awoniyi has had work permit issues during his time at the club, and it could be tougher for the striker to get a permit given that Brexit is just a month away.

The striker signed a new deal with the Reds last summer and joined the club back in 2015.

Loanees doing their bit for Liverpool

Awoniyi found his shooting boots after a poor spell at Gent. The 21-year-old has also had stints at FSV Frankfurt and Nijmegen.

It will be interesting to see how things go with the Nigerian in the coming months, and Liverpool have to plan for some other loanees too.

Harry Wilson, Ryan Kent and Marko Grujic have all done well this season. We could do with more attacking options to provide cover for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, and Wilson seems set for some first-team game time.

Grujic could also provide an option for us in the midfield but it seems likely he will be sent on loan again once the season ends.
