Nabil Fekir was close to becoming a Liverpool player in the summer. However, a deal fell through due to the medical and the Frenchman remained at Lyon (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The attacking midfielder has done well for club and country since then. He picked up the World Cup with France and has helped Lyon to second place in Ligue 1.
The 25-year-old also has 12 goals and seven assists for Lyon in all competitions and were paired against Barcelona in the Champions League knockout rounds.
The first leg ended 0-0 and Lyon have a chance of making it into the next round. The Frenchman spoke with the club’s website and claimed the team would give it their all to knock the Catalans out.
The Frenchman also spoke about his future and added that he wanted to win something with Lyon.
“Rumors are a part of the transfer window. It’s normal. I feel good here. My goal is to win a title with Lyon. Either way, I give my all.”
The attacking midfielder could do a great job for any of the top clubs in the world, and it would be a surprise if he stuck with Lyon next season.
Liverpool could do with more creativity in the midfield and Fekir fits the bill for the team. The 25-year-old could get even better in the coming years, and it would be difficult to win a trophy with Lyon given PSG’s strength in France.
