Sources close to ESPN claim that Liverpool are tracking Real Madrid target Junior Firpo.
The 22-year-old left-back has been impressive for Real Betis this season and even scored a goal in the 4-3 win over Barcelona recently.
The report adds that Barcelona, Manchester City, Juventus and Arsenal are also interested in the 22-year-old.
Junior also signed a new deal with Betis in August and his contract runs till 2023.
Spanish reports (h/t ESPN) claim that Real were close to paying Junior’s release clause of €50million in the summer.
The youngster is capable to play as a left-midfielder too but has been troubled by fitness issues in recent weeks.
Junior hasn’t played since the 3-3 draw against Rennes in the Europa League and his last start in the came in the 2-2 draw against Valencia in a February Copa del Rey game.
Liverpool could do with another left-back in the team to provide competition and cover for Andy Robertson.
The Scot has been our first-choice left-back since last season, and Alberto Moreno is out of a contract at the end of this campaign.
The Reds would be in all sorts of problems should Robertson pick up a long-term injury, and it will be interesting to see if we make a serious move for Junior in the summer.
