The Best Liverpool FC Players Of All Time

Liverpool FC has been around since 1892 and since then has had many players join the squad and come up against the best players in the world. Of course, some of the best players in the world happened to be on the Liverpool squad at least for a portion of their lives and they made an impact on the impressive reputation of the team.

In this article, we are going to discuss who we think are the best Liverpool FC players of all time. Keep reading if you’d like to find out more about this.

Steven Gerrard MBE

At the top of our list is Steven Gerrard, MBE who played comes from Whiston, Merseyside and first joined the Liverpool Academy at age 9. This player made his senior debut in 1998 for Liverpool FC and played a huge part in the squad until 2015 when he moved to LA to play for LA Galaxy. Over his career at Liverpool FC, he appeared 504 times and managed to score a massive 120 goals. During this time, he was also captain and he managed to lead Liverpool to a historic fifth European title in 2005. Gerard is well-known to Liverpool FC fans old and young due to his massive impact on this team. Steven Gerrard now is the manager of Rangers FC, based in Scotland.

Sir Kenny Dalglish

Sir Kenny Dalglish was born in Scotland in 1951 and started off his senior career playing for Celtic FC. In 1977, he moved to Liverpool FC and made history as he was there during some of the most successful years for the club. Between 1`977 and 1990, Dalglish made 355 appearances for Liverpool and scored 118 goals in total. Fondly known as King Kenny by the Liverpool supporters, this player returned to Liverpool in 2011 where he managed the team for a season before getting dismissed. Despite this, he is known as one of the best Liverpool FC players of all time and makes it onto our list.

Ian Rush MBE

Liverpool FC fans will know Ian James Rush MBE who comes from Wales and played for Liverpool FC between 1980-1987 and 1988-1996. Rush holds the record for the most goals scored for the team with a total of 346 over his career there. This striker had a really impressive career at Liverpool and is well known as one of the best ever players to have been on the squad. Despite leaving the team to play for Leeds United, Newcastle and other teams, this player belongs on our list.

Luis Suárez

Luis Suárez is another player who made a big impact on Liverpool FC during his time there between 2011 and 2014. This Uruguayan striker made 100 appearances for the team and scored 69 goals in the few years that he played there. In his first full season at Liverpool, he managed to help the team win the League Cup and impressed Liverpool fans all over the country. While Luis Suárez then moved onto Barcelona in 2014, he still remains one of the best players to have ever been on the Liverpool FC squad.

Mohamed Salah

One of the more recent entries on our list comes in the form of Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah. If you pay attention to the then you’ll know that this player has made a big impact over his time there and Liverpool are currently sitting in the top position on the league table with the help of this player. Salah only moved to Liverpool FC in 2017 for a record fee of £36.9 million but since then he has made 66 appearances and scored 49 goals in total.

Fernando Torres

Fernando Torres was born on the 20th March 1984.  He began his career with , and joined Liverpool FC in 2007.  His first season was a huge success scoring more than 20 league goals in one season.  He was the first to do that since Robbie Fowler in 1995-1996.  Torres is a Spanish International, and he has the amazing achievement of being the 3rd highest goal scorers of all time.  He scored in the Euro 2008 and 2012 tournaments – and he even scored the winning goal in the 2008 European Championship.

Robbie Fowler

Robbie Fowler was a striker from 1993 until 2012.  He is best-known for being the 6th highest goal scorer in the entire history of the Premier League.  For Liverpool, he scored 183 goals – and 128 of those were at Premier League level.  He was given the rather superior title of God by Anfield.  Robbie Fowler was capped 26 times, and was part of the Euro 1996, Euro 2000 and 2002 World Cup teams.

John Barnes

John Barnes was born in Jamaica in 1963 and moved to London when he was 12.  He played for Watford and Liverpool in the 80’s and 90’s and got 79 caps for England.  He began at England in 1983, and after 4 years became a part of the Liverpool team for £900,000.  He won what was then the top ten first flight, and FA Cup twice with Liverpool.  He scored a total of 106 goals in 403 matches.  He then had 2 years at Manchester United and finished playing in 1999 with Carlton Athletic.  Interestingly John Barnes and Kenny Dalglish ended up working together when he was head coach of Celtic Football Club in Scotland and Kenny was Director of Football.  John had many accolades to his name including the

Player of the Year and the Football Writers Association Footballer of the Year twice.  In 2005, John Barnes got the honour of being inducted to the English Football Hall of Fame and has been one of the favourite players amongst Liverpool fans.
