Porto left-back Alex Telles picked up what looked like a nasty injury in a 3-2 win over Braga at the weekend. The Brazilian left-back is their first-choice penalty taker and injured his hip when scoring from the spot.
The 26-year-old was holding his hip, and the Liverpool Echo
claims he was replaced immediately after collapsing in pain. This would be a huge blow to the Portuguese side as Telles scored the all-important spot-kick to knock AS Roma out of the Champions League.
Telles has been brilliant in recent weeks with four goals for Porto in his last 10 games. The 26-year-old Brazilian also has 8 assists to his name in all competitions for the club this season.
This would be a rematch from the round of 16 clash between the sides in the Champions League last season.
Liverpool’s opponents were thrashed 5-0 in the first leg last time around, but the Reds will be without Andy Robertson in the first leg.
The Scot is suspended after picking up a yellow card, and should Telles not be fit for the clash, two of the best left-backs in Europe will miss out on the game.
The first leg of the quarter-finals is on 9th April at Anfield, and Liverpool must have a decent advantage after the first leg.
We cannot take Porto lightly but the Reds should have enough in the tank to pick up the win.
