The Daily Star claims that James Milner is expected to replace Andy Robertson as Liverpool’s left-back against Porto on Tuesday.
Robertson is suspended for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final after picking up a booking in the last minute against Bayern Munich.
The Scot has been one of our best players this season and Milner seems to be the right option for the Reds.
The 33-year-old Englishman deputised as the left-back for an entire season as Jurgen Klopp pushed Alberto Moreno down the pecking order.
Milner has made six appearances at right-back for Liverpool this season and played that role against Southampton too.
The Englishman came on to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was having an average game. Milner isn’t a natural left-back, but his experience should come in handy while facing the Portuguese giants.
Liverpool face Chelsea at the weekend after the Champions League clash on Tuesday and need to get a sizeable advantage to rest some players for the Premier League run-in.
Porto should not be taken lightly even though we beat them 5-0 in an away game last season. The Portuguese giants are second to Benfica in the league only on goal difference and have won their last four games.
The Reds got one of the easier draws for the quarter-finals, and we have to make it count on Tuesday.
