Latest Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp confirms Adam Lallana will not feature against Porto

Liverpool have been dealt a bit of a blow as Adam Lallana has been ruled out of the Champions League clash against Porto.

Jurgen Klopp was speaking during the pre-match press conference and claimed the Englishman had a minor problem which even kept him out of the clash against Southampton (h/t LiverpoolFC.com):

“Adam was only a little thing, we don’t have to talk about that. It kept him out for the weekend and maybe for tomorrow.”

The 30-year-old started in the 2-1 win over Fulham but has had a tough season with injuries. The former Southampton star only has six starts to his name this season and hasn’t registered a goal or an assist.

Lallana had a couple of great moments in the win over Burnley, however, we should have enough in the tank to defeat Porto at Anfield.

Gomez still needs time

The manager was also speaking about Joe Gomez as the defender trained with the team before the clash against Southampton.

“He could be maybe [available] but for him it’s better to have more sessions. Joe needs that, he is not long enough in training.”

Klopp added that no one should think about the defender for a couple of weeks as he needs to train well with the squad.

The Liverpool manager also added that Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum were carrying minor knocks but they would be fit for the Porto game.
