Liverpool FC transfer news: Thorgan Hazard wants to join Borussia Dortmund
Liverpool have submitted a bid for Borussia Monchengladbach star Thorgan Hazard, according to DH (h/t Daily Star).
However, the report claims that the 26-year-old isn’t sure of a move to Anfield as he won’t be guaranteed a first-team spot.
Kicker (h/t Daily Star), however, claims that Borussia Dortmund are also in the race to sign the Belgian.
The report claims that Hazard has given his word to the Bundesliga side that he wants to join.
Hazard has been great for Monchengladbach this season with 12 goals and nine assists in all competitions.
A replacement for a Chelsea bound star
Kicker (h/t Daily Star) adds that Hazard is seen as a replacement for Christian Pulisic. The American winger will leave Dortmund next season having signed a deal with Chelsea.
Monchengladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl further claimed that the Belgian doesn’t want to sign a new deal with the club (h/t Daily Star):
“He wants to leave Borussia after five years because he wants to take the next step for himself.
“We signalled to him long ago that we would like him to sign a contract extension, but he hasn’t responded to that.”
The director added that Hazard does not have a release clause in his contract, and teams have to put up a decent transfer offer to sign the Belgian.
Hazard can play on either side of the attack and has even filled in as a defensive midfielder this season.
