Liverpool FC transfer news: Manchester duo join Reds to sign Joao Felix

The Express reports that Manchester City and Manchester United are in the race for 19-year-old Benfica sensation Joao Felix.

Felix bagged a hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League on Thursday with eight top European clubs watching him, according to the report.

The Manchester pair were joined by Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham in watching the young Benfica star, according to the Express.

Liverpool have scouted Felix this season, and the report adds that the 19-year-old has been labelled as the next Cristiano Ronaldo.

Felix will not come on the cheap as the attacker has a release clause of £103m (h/t Express) and Benfica’s president Luis Filipe Vieira wants to increase that (h/t Express):

“Right now we are not interested in selling Joao Felix, and soon we will increase his release clause.”

However, Benfica’s sporting director Rui Costa is open to selling the star for the right amount (h/t Express):

“We will try to keep Joao Felix and other players for as long as possible.

“But we are aware that there are clauses and there are certain players that cannot be held indefinitely in Portugal.”
