Latest Liverpool news: Souness feels Newcastle away will be ‘dangerous’
Liverpool legend Graeme Souness thinks Newcastle United away will be the Reds’ “dangerous game” to overcome if we are to give ourselves a big chance of winning the Premier League title this season.
The Reds secured a 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday, thanks to goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. The win returned us to the top spot in the table, although we have played a game more than our title rivals, Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp’s side only have four matches left in comparison to City’s five. We face Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town, Newcastle United and Wolves, while City’s fixtures look tougher on paper, with Tottenham and Manchester United amongst their opponents.
However, Souness feels Liverpool’s fate will be decided at Newcastle, who are managed by former Reds’ manager Rafael Benitez.
“I think, looking at them, the dangerous game for City is the United game. Derby games notoriously hard to predict,” Souness told Sky Sports. (h/t the Metro). ”And the dangerous game for Liverpool, for me, is Newcastle away.
“But for me, it’s Liverpool at Newcastle and City at Old Trafford. They are the games that will decide this league.”

Graeme Souness is absolutely spot on! Newcastle away will be a tricky one as Benitez knows how to stifle teams up and hit them hard on the counter. We have to be excellent to beat the Magpies but first, let’s defeat Porto on Wednesday and advance into the Champions League semi-finals.
