Spanish football expert Guillem Balague believes Liverpool could dump Barcelona out of the Champions League.
The Reds face the La Liga giants in the semi-finals of the competition, and Balague was speaking on his YouTube channel about Barca’s clash against Manchester United too.
The Catalans brushed aside the Red Devils over the two legs winning 1-0 and 3-0. However, Balague believes Liverpool would have taken advantage of some mistakes made by Barcelona (h/t Express
):“Barcelona have shown weaknesses of course.
“In the first 10 minutes against Manchester United, if it had been Liverpool, it could have been [Mohamed] Salah, [Sadio] Mane, 2-0 to Liverpool.”
The expert added that the lead could have meant the end of the tie, and claimed that Liverpool could defeat Barcelona if they were given chances. Balague also had a word of warning for the Reds and it revolved around possibly the best player ever:
“If you give the advantage to Liverpool and they take it – and normally they do – it’d be Liverpool going through.
“Unless Messi decides otherwise.”
The Reds have been great all season and defeated Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in the round of 16.
The Barcelona clash will be a different test as the Catalans have Lionel Messi on their side. The Argentine is in great form this season and was excellent in the 3-0 win over Manchester United.
Liverpool have some of the best players in the world, and we should be a decent match for the La Liga leaders.
