Liverpool secured Champions League football for next season a while back, thanks to a stellar Premier League campaign.
The Reds are still in with a shout of winning the title but need Manchester City to slip up. The Cityzens have two tough away games before the end of the season, and hopefully, we overhaul them.
However, there is some good news regarding our Champions League fate next season. The Reds were given a tough group this time around as we faced Napoli, Paris Saint-Germain and Red Star Belgrade.
This was due to the club being in pot three last season, however, the Liverpool Echo reports that we have moved up to pot two thanks to our Champions League run this season.
The move up should help us avoid such ‘groups of death’ in the coming season.
Liverpool are in the semi-finals of the competition for a second-straight season and face Barcelona for a place in the final.
The report adds that the Reds could end up in pot one should they win the Premier League or the Champions League.
It won’t be easy to get either as Barcelona have been in great form and have Lionel Messi to help them out.
The first leg of the semi-final takes place at the Nou Camp in midweek and we face Huddersfield before that tie.
Liverpool can move to the top of the Premier League with a win on Friday, but City can reclaim the top spot with three points against Burnley on Sunday.
