Former Liverpool star Luis Garcia believes silverware will help Mohamed Salah stay at Liverpool.

The Spaniard lifted the 2005 Champions League title with the Reds and believes Real Madrid and Barcelona will be interested in top players like Salah.

Liverpool have seen Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho join Barcelona in recent years, but Garcia believes breaking the trophy drought will help keep the Egyptian at Anfield (h/t Mirror

“If Liverpool win trophies then I think it will be much easier for the club to keep Mo Salah. We know that Barcelona and Real Madrid will be in the market for the best players in the summer. And if you talk about the best players in the world right now then Mo Salah must be included.”

The Spaniard spoke about the rumours linking the two La Liga giants with Salah and claimed it was difficult for players to say ‘no’ when they come calling.

The former Red claimed this Liverpool is on the up with a Champions League final under their belt from last season and that trophies are on the agenda.

“They are now a club with the potential to win the big trophies.”

The Egyptian has been in great form in recent weeks and now leads the Premier League scoring charts.

The 26-year-old has bagged 21 Premier League goals this season and is one ahead of Sadio Mane. Salah scored a brace in the 5-0 hammering of Huddersfield as the Reds kept the pressure on Manchester City in the Premier League.

Liverpool are also in the semi-finals of the Champions League where they face Barcelona for a place in the final.
